Year of the Tiger

Kate gets to travel almost every year with her HarpFusion group. Last May, they went to Brazil and this July, they're going to China! I'm really jealous because I've never been to South America or Asia. She's never been to Europe, however, while I have, but I'm sure she'll make it over there sooner or later. Anyway, last May, about 2 weeks before she was scheduled to leave for Brazil, she called me and asked if I could design a bag for them. I agreed and luckily was able to whip up a design that night and they had their bags by the trip. This year, I anticipated Kate's request and decided I'd do the design now while there was no pressure. Below are both the designs I did for Brazil last year and for China this year.

I chose the green and yellow based on Brazil's flag and put it on a navy blue bag. I think the palm trees and jungle plants explain themselves.

The tan color will actually be metallic gold when silk screened. There is red, of course, and the turquoise harp is for the official HarpFusion color. It's going to be put on a black bag. Very Chinese, right? 2010 is the Year of the Tiger, hence the tiger and the little Chinese character, which means Year of the Tiger.

Megan, that is so cool. You worked so much meaning into a simple, but beautiful design. I hope you do one every year.

Finally, a new posting! I liked the desert highway but it's nice to see something new.

Those are really nice designs, I'm sure those girls will keep those to remind them of their adventures to exotic places for many years.

I've been to Europe, South America, the Philippines and Japan but never China...I think I'd rather visit Europe than go to China. I haven't been back to Switzerland since my mission and have never seen the other European countries at all. Maybe I'll go when Kate goes.

PS. I'm really happy I now longer need to commute to California. It's good to be home to stay.

Wow, Megan, your talent never ceases to amaze me! Beautiful bags! I love them both! Maybe you should start thinking of a baby announcement, while there's no pressure!! ;)
